Below are some common questions about the KC Fusion competitive soccer program. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please contact someone on the KC Fusion Board. Team-related questions should be directed to the team's coach or manager.
What is a “Premier” Soccer Program?
The primary goal for our Premier Program is to promote and develop players to the highest level. It is designed to help players grow in technical, tactical, physical and psychological understanding and execution of soccer in a more competitive environment. This is accomplished with better and more frequent training, quality coaching and consistent quality competition locally, regionally and sometimes, nationally.
I’ve heard going premier is expensive. Is this true?
The KC Fusion Club works diligently to keep our costs down. As such, we are one of the least expensive Premier programs in the Metro area. Variables include 1) the number of tournaments that a team participates in (usually 2 per season), 2) the Coaching and/or training fees which vary by team, and 3) uniform costs. In all, most people are surprised to learn of the tremendous value of our program as opposed to what they've heard about other programs.
What makes KC Fusion unique?
There are many special advantages of being a KC Fusion player. Perhaps the greatest is in our relationship with our Kansas City Wizards. Many of these professional players work as trainers with our aspiring players, goalies and coaches. Another is the high level of parent involvement and commitment in the club, including coaching, managing, and a wide range of club activities. Another unique feature is that our club does not force players to “move up/down” to a different team from year to year depending on their performance. This is entirely a coach/parent decision.
How can I/we join the KC Fusion Club?
Team: Coaches should contact the KC Fusion Director if you have an interest in bringing an existing team, Recreation or Premier, into the Club. The KC Fusion Board will review and decide all requests to add new teams to our program.
Individual: 1) Tryouts are conducted once a year during the summer. 2) You are also welcome to contact a current coach of the respective age of your child directly to discuss your interest. On occasion, positions will sometimes become available on a team during the year and can be filled subject to certain Kansas Youth Soccer Association rules. See the list of boys teams and girls teams for contact information.
How do tryouts work?
Tryouts are governed by the United States Soccer Federation and the Kansas Youth Soccer Association. Our tryouts are held at Mill Creek Soccer Park in Lenexa. Actual dates and times for each age group are posted here.
