A message from our President, Nick Disidore.
“URGENT: Mill Creek Soccer Field Project – Your immediate attention is needed”
“Mill Creek Soccer Project: What’s at stake and What can I do?”
A. MOST IMPORTANT: Contact our city council members immediately (your Ward Council member should be the first contact but equally important to contact ALL since this a community project) since there has been NO public input on this project and it’s expected to go before the City Council for vote on August 3rd.
Your voice needs to be heard immediately and often on ALL THE FOLLOWING:
1) Thank you for supporting this much needed field expansion. There is a tremendous need for more and better quality soccer game and practice fields in Lenexa…we are way behind neighboring city park offerings.
2) PLEASE Include irrigation and restrooms at Mill Creek. This is HIGHLY used park by youth, adults and families already and the expansion will only make this need TWICE AS GREAT!
3) PLEASE don’t take the current fields away from us until AFTER the expansion is ready to be played on. Doing so will cause a great hardship on the kids development and seems totally unnecessary. We are fine with current field conditions as long as will eventually be restored like the new ones later.
4) PLEASE don’t take away the soccer goals from city fields. How can you expect kids to learn how to score if they don’t have real goals.
B. Plan to attend the City Council meeting on August 3rd at 7:00pm when this project will come up for discuss and vote. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to express their thoughts and suggestions on this project so come prepared to share your views. Let’s pack city hall with our entire SWU soccer families to show how big and important soccer is to this community!!
C. Talk to your friends and neighbors about the importance of doing this project right and encourage them to contact our city officials as well.
Please feel free to contact Nick Disidore, SWU President and Lenexa Parks Board member, if you have any questions about this project at njdisi@everestkc.net or 913-530-9227. |
